About 5-CFDA

5-CFDA is a single isomer form of the fluorogenic carboxyfluorescein diacetate (CFDA) often used in live-cell applications to assess cell health and viability. CFDA can also be used as a short-term cell tracker. For long term cell tracking or proliferation assays use instead the CFDA-SE (sometimes errantly abbreviated CFSE) reagent which loads the cell identically but is retained once internalized by the subsequent conjugation of the succinimidyl ester moiety to intracellular amine-containing proteins and peptides.
