eFluorâ„¢ 520 (eF520) Fixable Viability is a green-emitting viability dye that can be excited by the 488 nm blue laser and collected using a 530/30 bandpass filter. eFluor 520 has an excitation peak at 488 nm and and emission peak at 522 nm. eF520 irreversibly stains dead cells with a robust fluorescence that is unaffected by washing, fixation, permeability treatments, or other staining. It is most commonly used for flow cytometry and is spectrally similar to FITC. This eFluor dye is unique in the sense that eFluor 520 is only associated with two products, this product and a phalloidin conjugate. This dye is part of the larger eFluor dye family, developed by eBioscience which is now part of ThermoFisher Scientific.
