About Alexa Fluor 700

Alexa Fluor® 700 (AF700, Alexa 700) is a red-emitting synthetic fluorophore that can be excited by the 640 nm red laser and captured with a 730/45 nm bandpass filter. AF700 has an excitation peak at 702 nm and an emission peak at 723 nm, and is spectrally similar to APC-R700 (BD Biosciences), iFluor™ 680 (ATT Bioquest) and iFluor™ 700 (ATT Bioquest). AF700 is dim which makes it useful in flow cytometry for staining high abundance markers, but it is not very photostable which excludes it for use in fluorescent microscopy and imaging applications. The Alexa Fluor dye family was originally developed by Molecular Probes, now a part of ThermoFisher Scientific. AlexaFluor is a registered trademark of Invitrogen, ThermoFisher Scientific. Alexa Fluor dyes come in a wide variety of modified formats that allow for easy conjugations or right out of the box use.
