About Protein S and Purified
Protein S | This gene encodes a vitamin K-dependent plasma protein that functions as a cofactor for the anticoagulant protease, activated protein C (APC) to inhibit blood coagulation. It is found in plasma in both a free, functionally active form and also in an inactive form complexed with C4b-binding protein. Mutations in this gene result in autosomal dominant hereditary thrombophilia. An inactive pseudogene of this locus is located at an adjacent region on chromosome 3. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms that may undergo similar processing to generate mature protein. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2015] |

Detection of Human Protein S/PROS1 by Western Blot. Western blot shows human plasma. PVDF membrane was probed with 0.2 µg/mL of Goat Anti-Human Protein S/PROS1 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF4036) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Goat IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF019). Specific bands were detected for Protein S/PROS1 at approximately 80 & 100 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 1. |

Detection of Human Protein S/PROS1 by Simple WesternTM. Simple Western lane view shows human plasma, loaded at 0.2 mg/mL. A specific band was detected for Protein S/PROS1 at approximately 106 kDa (as indicated) using 2 µg/mL of Goat Anti-Human Protein S/PROS1 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF4036) followed by 1:50 dilution of HRP-conjugated Anti-Goat IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF109). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using the 12-230 kDa separation system. |
