About Glucagon and NL 557
Glucagon The protein encoded by this gene is actually a preproprotein that is cleaved into four distinct mature peptides. One of these, glucagon, is a pancreatic hormone that counteracts the glucose-lowering action of insulin by stimulating glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis. Glucagon is a ligand for a specific G-protein linked receptor whose signalling pathway controls cell proliferation. Two of the other peptides are secreted from gut endocrine cells and promote nutrient absorption through distinct mechanisms. Finally, the fourth peptide is similar to glicentin, an active enteroglucagon. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
NL 557 NL 557 from Bio-Techne is a fluorophore with an excitation peak at 557 nm and an emission peak at 574 nm. It can be used in fluorescence microscopy.

Glucagon in beta TC-6 Mouse Cell Line. Glucagon was detected in immersion fixed beta TC-6 mouse beta cell insulinoma cell line using 10 µg/mL Human/Mouse Glucagon NorthernLights™-557 Conjugated Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # NL1249R) for 3 hours at room temperature. Cells were stained (red) and counterstained with DAPI (blue). View our protocol for Fluorescent ICC Staining of Cells on Coverslips.
