About Galanin and Purified
Galanin | This gene encodes a neuroendocrine peptide that is widely expressed in the central and peripheral nervous systems and also the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, adrenal gland and urogenital tract. The encoded protein is a precursor that is proteolytically processed to generate two mature peptides: galanin and galanin message-associated peptide (GMAP). Galanin has diverse physiological functions including nociception, feeding and energy homeostasis, osmotic regulation and water balance. GMAP has been demonstrated to possess antifungal activity and hypothesized to be part of the innate immune system. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2015] |

Detection of Human Galanin by Western Blot. Western blot shows lysates of SH-SY5Y human neuroblastoma cell line. PVDF membrane was probed with 1 µg/mL of Sheep Anti-Human Galanin Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF5854) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Sheep IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF016). A specific band was detected for Galanin at approximately 10 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 8. |

Detection of Human Galanin by Simple WesternTM. Simple Western lane view shows lysates of SH-SY5Y human neuroblastoma cell line, loaded at 0.2 mg/mL. A specific band was detected for Galanin at approximately 13 kDa (as indicated) using 10 µg/mL of Sheep Anti-Human Galanin Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF5854) followed by 1:50 dilution of HRP-conjugated Anti-Sheep IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF016). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using the 12-230 kDa separation system. |
