Description Clone REA858 recognizes the human, mouse, and rat proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), a 36 kDa nuclear protein also known as cyclin or auxiliary protein of DNA polymerase delta. PCNA is expressed in the nucleus of all proliferating cells. PCNA plays a role in the control of eukaryotic DNA replication by increasing the polymerase's processibility during elongation of the leading strand. Furthermore, it is involved in DNA damage response by being conveniently positioned at the replication fork to coordinate DNA replication with DNA repair and DNA damage tolerance pathways. | Additional information: Clone REA858 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.
About PCNA and APC
PCNA The protein encoded by this gene is found in the nucleus and is a cofactor of DNA polymerase delta. The encoded protein acts as a homotrimer and helps increase the processivity of leading strand synthesis during DNA replication. In response to DNA damage, this protein is ubiquitinated and is involved in the RAD6-dependent DNA repair pathway. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. Pseudogenes of this gene have been described on chromosome 4 and on the X chromosome. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
APC Allophycocyanin (APC) is a fluorescent protein derived from cyanobacteria and red algae and a potent donor fluorophore to create tandem dyes that can be excited off the 633-640 nm laser. APC has an excitation peak at 650 nm and a emission peak at 660 nm.
