Description Clone REA1034 recognizes the interleukin 6 (IL-6) antigen, which is originally identified as a B cell differentiation factor. IL-6 is a multifunctional cytokine, which regulates immune responses, hematopoiesis, acute phase responses, and inflammatory reactions. It induces the terminal maturation of activated B cells into antibody-secreting plasma cells and acts in synergy with IL-3 to support the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells. IL-6 is produced by many cell types, such as monocytes, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, eosinophils, and T cells. Disturbed IL-6 production has been associated with pathological processes, including inflammatory autoimmune diseases and cancer. | Additional information: Clone REA1034 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.
About IL-6 and APC
IL-6 This gene encodes a subunit of the interleukin 6 (IL6) receptor complex. Interleukin 6 is a potent pleiotropic cytokine that regulates cell growth and differentiation and plays an important role in the immune response. The IL6 receptor is a protein complex consisting of this protein and interleukin 6 signal transducer (IL6ST/GP130/IL6-beta), a receptor subunit also shared by many other cytokines. Dysregulated production of IL6 and this receptor are implicated in the pathogenesis of many diseases, such as multiple myeloma, autoimmune diseases and prostate cancer. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified in this gene. A pseudogene of this gene is found on chromosome 9. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2020]
APC Allophycocyanin (APC) is a fluorescent protein derived from cyanobacteria and red algae and a potent donor fluorophore to create tandem dyes that can be excited off the 633-640 nm laser. APC has an excitation peak at 650 nm and a emission peak at 660 nm.
