About PIGC and Purified
PIGC | This gene encodes an endoplasmic reticulum associated protein that is involved in glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) lipid anchor biosynthesis. The GPI lipid anchor is a glycolipid found on many blood cells and serves to anchor proteins to the cell surface. The encoded protein is one subunit of the GPI N-acetylglucosaminyl (GlcNAc) transferase that transfers GlcNAc to phosphatidylinositol (PI) on the cytoplasmic side of the endoplasmic reticulum. Two alternatively spliced transcripts that encode the same protein have been found for this gene. A pseudogene on chromosome 11 has also been characterized. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |

Flow cytometry analysis of PIGC in K562 cells (green). The cells were fixed with 2% paraformaldhyde (10 min) and permeabilized with 90% methanol (10 min). The sample was then incubated with 2% BSA followed by a PIGC polyclonal antibody (Product # PA5-72316) using a dilution of 1:25 for 60 min at 37°C. The secondary antibody used was with a dilution of 1:200 for 40 min at 37°C. Isotype control antibody (blue line) was rabbit IgG (1 µg/1x10^6 cells) used under the same conditions with an acquisition of >10, 000 events. |
