Description | Clone REA881 recognizes the human transcription factor aiolos, also known as IKZF3. Aiolos is a member of the ikaros family of zinc-finger proteins and forms heterodimers with other ikaros family members. It plays an essential role in the control of B lymphocyte differentiation and proliferation and in the regulation of BCL2 expression. Furthermore, it is involved in controlling apoptosis in T cells in an IL-2–dependent manner. Aiolos is found in peripheral blood leukocytes, spleen, and thymus. | Additional information: Clone REA881 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. |
About IKZF3 and APC
IKZF3 | This gene encodes a member of the Ikaros family of zinc-finger proteins. Three members of this protein family (Ikaros, Aiolos and Helios) are hematopoietic-specific transcription factors involved in the regulation of lymphocyte development. This gene product is a transcription factor that is important in the regulation of B lymphocyte proliferation and differentiation. Both Ikaros and Aiolos can participate in chromatin remodeling. Regulation of gene expression in B lymphocytes by Aiolos is complex as it appears to require the sequential formation of Ikaros homodimers, Ikaros/Aiolos heterodimers, and Aiolos homodimers. Several alternative transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described, as well as some non-protein coding variants. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2012] | |

APC | Allophycocyanin (APC) is a fluorescent protein derived from cyanobacteria and red algae and a potent donor fluorophore to create tandem dyes that can be excited off the 633-640 nm laser. APC has an excitation peak at 650 nm and a emission peak at 660 nm. |
