Description | The oncoprotein EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor), also known as HER1 / ErbB1, is a member of ErbB family of cell surface receptor tyrosine kinases. This 170 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein is often associated with cancerogenesis, although its activation state is controlled at various levels including trafficking and degradation steps. Binding of receptor-specific ligands to the EGFR ectodomain results in formation of homodimeric or heterodimeric kinase-active complexes into which HER2 / ErbB2 is recruited as a preferred partner. Subsequent signaling cascades such as RAS/MAPK and PI3K/AKT pathways lead to cell proliferation and survival responses. |
About EGF Receptor and PE-Cy7
EGF Receptor | The protein encoded by this gene is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is a member of the protein kinase superfamily. This protein is a receptor for members of the epidermal growth factor family. EGFR is a cell surface protein that binds to epidermal growth factor, thus inducing receptor dimerization and tyrosine autophosphorylation leading to cell proliferation. Mutations in this gene are associated with lung cancer. EGFR is a component of the cytokine storm which contributes to a severe form of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) resulting from infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). PE-Cy7 | PE-Cyanine®7 (PE-Cy7, RPE-Cy7) is a far red-emitting tandem fluorophore that combines phycoerythrin (PE) and Cy7. The donor molecule, PE can be excited by the 488-nm blue, 532-nm green, or 561-nm yellow-green laser and and transfers energy to the acceptor molecule, Cy7, which emits light that can be captured with a 780/60 nm bandpass filter. PE-CY7 has an excitation peak at 565 nm and an emission peak at 778 nm, and is a suitable alternative to PE-Vio®770 (Miltenyi) and cFluor BYG781 (Cytek). |
