About CD5 and RealBlue 705
CD5 This gene encodes a member of the scavenger receptor cysteine-rich (SRCR) superfamily. Members of this family are secreted or membrane-anchored proteins mainly found in cells associated with the immune system. This protein is a type-I transmembrane glycoprotein found on the surface of thymocytes, T lymphocytes and a subset of B lymphocytes. The encoded protein contains three SRCR domains and may act as a receptor to regulate T-cell proliferation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. RealBlue 705 RealBlue™ 705 from BD Biosciences is a novel fluorescent multimer that exhibits improvements upon PerCP-Cy5.5 and BB700 due to lower cross beam excitation efficiency with the 355nm UV, 405nm violet, 561nm yellow/green and 633/647nm red lasers, which results in less spectral spillover and resultant spreading error associated with the use of this fluorophore in a multicolor panel.
