Description DISC1 Polyclonal Antibody, DyLight 650 conjugate. The 'Disrupted In Schizophrenia' gene locus DISC is associated with patients afflicted with schizophrenia as a result of chromosomal translocations. DISC-1 encodes a large protein predicted to contain a globular N-terminal domain and a helical C-terminal domain, both of which have the potential to form interactions with other proteins. DISC-1 interacts with proteins involved in the centrosome and cytoskeletal system, including MIPT3, MAP1A and NUDEL; proteins which localize receptors to membranes, including alpha-actinin 2 an beta 4-spectrin; and proteins which transduce signals from membrane receptors, including ATF-4 and ATF-5. Therefore, DISC-1 is thought to be involved in intracellular transport, neurite architecture and/or neuronal migration, all of which are thought to be pathogenic in the schizophrenic brain.IHC (P) 2.5-5 µg/ml, WB 1:100-1:2000
About DISC1 and DyLight 650
DISC1 This gene encodes a protein with multiple coiled coil motifs which is located in the nucleus, cytoplasm and mitochondria. The protein is involved in neurite outgrowth and cortical development through its interaction with other proteins. This gene is disrupted in a t(1;11)(q42.1;q14.3) translocation which segregates with schizophrenia and related psychiatric disorders in a large Scottish family. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
DyLight 650 DyLight™ 650 is a red-emitting fluorophore that excited by the 640 nm laser and collected using a 670/30 nm bandpass filter. DyLight™ 650 has an excitation peak at 652 nm and an emission peak at 672 nm, and is spectrally similar to Alexa Fluor™ 647 and Cy5. DyLight™ 650 is most commonly used in flow cytometery and fluorescence microscopy applications.
