About CD11b and RealBlue 744
CD11b This gene encodes the integrin alpha M chain. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of an alpha chain and a beta chain. This I-domain containing alpha integrin combines with the beta 2 chain (ITGB2) to form a leukocyte-specific integrin referred to as macrophage receptor 1 ('Mac-1'), or inactivated-C3b (iC3b) receptor 3 ('CR3'). The alpha M beta 2 integrin is important in the adherence of neutrophils and monocytes to stimulated endothelium, and also in the phagocytosis of complement coated particles. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2009]
RealBlue 744 RealBlue™ 744 from BD Biosciences is a novel multimer fluorophore for use in spectral flow cytometry applications with an optimal excitation peak at 488nm and an emission peak at 744nm. The emission peak fits neatly between the PerCP-Cy5.5/ StarBright Blue 700/ RealBlue™ 705 and the RealBlue™ 780 emission peaks which means it does not fall into a standard filter set on conventional, non-spectral flow cytometers. It exhibits minimal cross-beam excitation off the 355nm UV, 405nm violet, 561nm yellow/green and 633/647nm red lasers resulting in low potential for spillover spreading error in a multicolor flow cytometry assay.
