About CD11b and StarBright Yellow 720
CD11b This gene encodes the integrin alpha M chain. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of an alpha chain and a beta chain. This I-domain containing alpha integrin combines with the beta 2 chain (ITGB2) to form a leukocyte-specific integrin referred to as macrophage receptor 1 ('Mac-1'), or inactivated-C3b (iC3b) receptor 3 ('CR3'). The alpha M beta 2 integrin is important in the adherence of neutrophils and monocytes to stimulated endothelium, and also in the phagocytosis of complement coated particles. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2009]
StarBright Yellow 720 StarBright Yellow 720 (SBY720) Dye is a bright 561 nm excitable dye with a unique and narrow emission. It can be used in place of PE-Cy5.5 and PE-A700 in multicolor panels as it is brighter, has reduced 488 nm excitation, and is fixable in PFA and alcohol-based buffers without loss of signal or changes to the spectra. Furthermore, as it is not a traditional tandem dye it is not prone to changes in emission over time due to acceptor and donor uncoupling, giving you reproducible data. Like all StarBright Dyes, SBY720 can be multiplexed with other StarBright Dyes or other fluorophores without the need for a special buffer and can be premixed in a panel and stored at 4⁰C for over a month without changes to staining.
