Host Human
Isotype IgG1
Conjugate Vio Bright V423
Target Species Human
Applications FC
Description Clone REA717 recognizes the human CD228 antigen, a cell-surface sialoglycoprotein also known as MFI2 or melanotransferrin. CD228 is mainly found in human melanomas, but also in liver, epithelium, and in certain fetal tissues. It plays a role in iron cellular uptake. CD228 is internalized before being recycled back to the cell membrane and is also able to bind zinc. | Additional information: Clone REA717 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.
About CD228 and Vio Bright V423
CD228 The protein encoded by this gene is a cell-surface glycoprotein found on melanoma cells. The protein shares sequence similarity and iron-binding properties with members of the transferrin superfamily. The importance of the iron binding function has not yet been identified. This gene resides in the same region of chromosome 3 as members of the transferrin superfamily. Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Vio Bright V423 Vio® Bright V423 is a very bright Violet emitting synthetic fluorophore used in flow cytometry. The excitation and emission peaks are 399 nm and 420 nm, respectively, which means that this dye is optimally excited by the 405 nm Violet laser while the emission light is collected by a 450/50 bandpass filter.
