Description Clone REA1038 recognizes the human interleukin 9 (IL-9) antigen, which is secreted by mast cells and T helper (Tʜ) cells. First IL-9 production was associated to Tʜ2 cells, but it was also found in other Tʜ subsets. Recently, evidence for the existence of a specialized lineage of Tʜ cells producing IL-9, named Tʜ9, came up. IL-9 has pleiotropic effects, e.g. it promotes mast cell growth and function, is involved in CD4+ T cell subset differentiation and growth, enhances IgE production, supports hematopoiesis, and acts on airway and gut epithelial cells. | Additional information: Clone REA1038 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.
About IL-9 and PE-Vio770
IL-9 The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that acts as a regulator of a variety of hematopoietic cells. This cytokine stimulates cell proliferation and prevents apoptosis. It functions through the interleukin 9 receptor (IL9R), which activates different signal transducer and activator (STAT) proteins and thus connects this cytokine to various biological processes. The gene encoding this cytokine has been identified as a candidate gene for asthma. Genetic studies on a mouse model of asthma demonstrated that this cytokine is a determining factor in the pathogenesis of bronchial hyperresponsiveness. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
PE-Vio770 PE-Vio® 770 from Miltenyi Biotec is a red-emitting tandem fluorophore that combines pycoerythrin (PE) and Vio®770. The donor molecule, PE can be excited by the 488-nm blue, 532-nm green, or 561-nm yellow-green laser and and transfers energy to the acceptor molecule, Vio®770, which emitts light that can be captured with a 780/60 nm bandpass filter. PE-Vio®770 has an excitation peak at 565 nm and an emission peak at 775 nm and is a common alternative to PE-Cy7 and PE-H7.
