Description Chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 16 (CXCL16), also known as SR-PSOX, is a transmembrane protein that facilitates uptake of low density lipoproteins by macrophages, resulting in foam cell formation.1 CXCL16 is found in liver tissue2 and influences the uptake, subcellular localization, and cytokine profile induced by D oligonucleotides.3 CXCL16 may play a pro-inflammatory role in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), particularly Crohn's disease.4
About CXCL16 and Purified
CXCL16 Enables chemokine activity. Involved in several processes, including positive regulation of cell growth; response to interferon-gamma; and response to tumor necrosis factor. Located in extracellular space. Biomarker of COVID-19 and systemic scleroderma. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Apr 2022]
