Description CD86 is an 80kD Ig superfamily member that is involved in immunoglobulin class-switching and activation of NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity. CD80 is closely related to, and works in tandem with CD86 to prime T- cells. CD86 is expressed earlier in the immune response than CD80. The ligation of CD28 on T cells with CD80 and CD86 on APCs co-stimulates T cells resulting in enhanced cell activation, proliferation, and cytokine production. CD86 can also bind to CTLA-4 to deliver an inhibitory signal to T cells.
About CD86 and DyLight 650
CD86 This gene encodes a type I membrane protein that is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. This protein is expressed by antigen-presenting cells, and it is the ligand for two proteins at the cell surface of T cells, CD28 antigen and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4. Binding of this protein with CD28 antigen is a costimulatory signal for activation of the T-cell. Binding of this protein with cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 negatively regulates T-cell activation and diminishes the immune response. Alternative splicing results in several transcript variants encoding different isoforms.[provided by RefSeq, May 2011]
DyLight 650 DyLight™ 650 is a red-emitting fluorophore that excited by the 640 nm laser and collected using a 670/30 nm bandpass filter. DyLight™ 650 has an excitation peak at 652 nm and an emission peak at 672 nm, and is spectrally similar to Alexa Fluor™ 647 and Cy5. DyLight™ 650 is most commonly used in flow cytometery and fluorescence microscopy applications.
