Description Clone HM79-12 recognizes the mouse CD79b antigen, a 35-40kD Single-pass type I membrane protein also known as B-cell antigen receptor complex-associated protein beta chain (Igβ chain). The heterodimeric CD79 molecule is composed of an α chain (CD79a) and a β chain (CD79b) and is associated with surface immunoglobulins to form the B cell receptor. The CD79a/CD79b heterodimer facilitates the differentiation of pre-B cells from pro-B cells, surface expression of surface Ig, signal transduction following antigen recognition and endocytosis of recognized antigens. Crosslinking of CD79b in vitro by monoclonal antibodies activates pre-B cells but blocks terminal differentiation of all plasma cell isotypes. It was shown that a combination of CD79α and CD79β monoclonal antibodies can effectively deplete B cells from peripheral blood, spleen, bone marrow, and lymph nodes in mice. |
About CD79b and PE-Vio770
CD79b The B lymphocyte antigen receptor is a multimeric complex that includes the antigen-specific component, surface immunoglobulin (Ig). Surface Ig non-covalently associates with two other proteins, Ig-alpha and Ig-beta, which are necessary for expression and function of the B-cell antigen receptor. This gene encodes the Ig-beta protein of the B-cell antigen component. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
PE-Vio770 PE-Vio® 770 from Miltenyi Biotec is a red-emitting tandem fluorophore that combines pycoerythrin (PE) and Vio®770. The donor molecule, PE can be excited by the 488-nm blue, 532-nm green, or 561-nm yellow-green laser and and transfers energy to the acceptor molecule, Vio®770, which emitts light that can be captured with a 780/60 nm bandpass filter. PE-Vio®770 has an excitation peak at 565 nm and an emission peak at 775 nm and is a common alternative to PE-Cy7 and PE-H7.
