Description NB100-63574 recognizes human CD21, a 145kD cell surface glycoprotein expressed by mature B lymphocytes, follicular dendritic cells, subsets of normal thymocytes and subsets of T cells. The CD21 molecule acts as a receptor for CD23, for complement components C3d, C3dg and iC3b and for Epstein Barr Virus. CD21 is part of the signalling complex that is linked to CD19, CD81 and phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase.
About CD21 and Alexa Fluor 594
CD21 This gene encodes a membrane protein, which functions as a receptor for Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) binding on B and T lymphocytes. Genetic variations in this gene are associated with susceptibility to systemic lupus erythematosus type 9 (SLEB9). Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]
