Description | Clone REA661 recognizes the human CD80 antigen, also known as B7-1. CD80 is a 262 amino acid long 60 kDa molecule and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. Together with CD86 (B7-2) it belongs to the B7 family of costimulatory molecules. CD80 is expressed on activated B cells, dendritic cells, and monocytes/ macrophages. The interaction of CD80 with its ligands CD28 and CD152 (CTLA-4) plays a critical role in induction and regulation of immune responses. Binding of CD80 to CD28, which is constitutively expressed on T cells, provides a costimulatory signal and induces T cell proliferation and cytokine production. In contrast, binding to CTLA-4 strongly inhibits proliferation and IL-2 secretion by T cells. | Additional information: Clone REA661 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. |

PE | Phycoerythrin (PE, R-PE) is a red-emitting fluorescent protein-chromophore complex that can be excited the 488-nm blue, 532-nm green, or 561-nm yellow-green laser with increasing efficiency and captured with a 586/14 nm bandpass filter. PE has an excitation peak at 565 nm and an emission peak at 578 nm. PE is 240kD in size and has an extinction coefficient of ~2x10^6 which makes it one of the brightest fluorophores available and a potent donor upon which to build tandem fluorophores with longer Stoke's Shifts. |
