Description IRAK2, an IRAK type protein kinase, is a signal transducer for the immune response interleukin-1 receptor (IL-1R) signaling cascade. IRAK2 also has been associated with signaling cell death, potentially via the Fas-associated death domain protein/caspase-8 apoptotic pathway. Dominant negative forms of IRAK2 attenuate IL-1R-mediated NF-kappa B activation, suggesting that IRAK-2 may serve as a therapeutic target for inhibiting IL-1-induced inflammation.
About IRAK2 and Purified
IRAK2 IRAK2 encodes the interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase 2, one of two putative serine/threonine kinases that become associated with the interleukin-1 receptor (IL1R) upon stimulation. IRAK2 is reported to participate in the IL1-induced upregulation of NF-kappaB. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
