About Alexa Fluor 532


Alexa Fluor® 532 (AF532, Alexa 532) is a yellow-emitting synthetic fluorophore that can be excited by the 532 nm yellow laser and captured with a 575/36 nm bandpass filter. AF532 has an excitation peak at 532 nm and an emission peak at 554 nm, and is spectrally similar to Cy®3 (GE Healthcare), TRITC, iFluor™ 514 (ATT Bioquest) and iFluor™ 546 (ATT Bioquest). It is uncommon for flow cytometers to be equipped with 532 lasers, so while AF532 can be used for flow cytometry, it is less popular for this application. This dye is commonly used for immunohistochemistry applications and more specifically super-resolution microscopy because it is bright, photostable, and pH insensitive. The Alexa Fluor dye family was originally developed by Molecular Probes, now a part of ThermoFisher Scientific. AlexaFluor is a registered trademark of Invitrogen, ThermoFisher Scientific. Alexa Fluor dyes come in a wide variety of modified formats that allow for easy conjugations or right out of the box use.
