V450 (BD Horizon V450) is a blue-emitting coumarin fluorophore that can be excited by the 405 nm violet laser and captured with a 450/40 nm bandpass filter. V450 has an excitation peak at 406 nm and an emission peak at 450 nm, and is spectrally similar to eFluor™ 450 (ThermoFisher Scientific), VioBlue® (Miltenyi Biotec), Alexa Fluor 405 (ThermoFisher Scientific), Cascade Blue™ (ThermoFisher Scientific), Pacific Blue (ThermoFisher Scientific), SuperBright 436 (ThermoFisher Scientific), ATTO 425 (Atto-Tec) V450 is most commonly used in flow cytometry. Coumarin is a naturally occurring small molecular weight compound in plants that when modified forms the basis of various fluorescent probes. These fluorescent probes share some similar properties, such as being UV excitable and blue light emitting, while probes can exhibit differences such as in cell permeability.
