This gene encodes a trypsinogen, which is a member of the trypsin family of serine proteases. This enzyme is secreted by the pancreas and cleaved to its active form in the small intestine. It is active on peptide linkages involving the carboxyl group of lysine or arginine. Mutations in this gene are associated with hereditary pancreatitis. CF®555 from Biotium is a fluorophore with an excitation peak at 555 nm and an emission peak at 565 nm. It can be useful in both fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry. It is spectrally similar to Alexa Fluor™ 555, ATTO 550 and DyLight™ 550. In Flow Cytometry, R-PE is a brighter alternative to CF®555. In microscopy, it has been validated for use in super-resolution imaging by STORM.
