The protein encoded by this gene is an RNA-binding protein that regulates pre-mRNA splicing, export of mRNAs from the nucleus, protein translation, and mRNA stability. The encoded protein is involved in myelinization and oligodendrocyte differentiation and may play a role in schizophrenia. DyLight™ 633 is a red-emitting fluroescent dye that can be excited by the 628 nm laser and collected using a 670/30 nm bandpass filter. DyLight™ 633 has an excitation peak of 638 nm and an emission peak of 658 nm, and is spectrally similar to Alexa Fluor™ 633. DyLight™ 633 is most commonly used in flow cytometery and fluorescence microscopy applications.
