This gene encodes a carcinoma-associated antigen and is a member of a family that includes at least two type I membrane proteins. This antigen is expressed on most normal epithelial cells and gastrointestinal carcinomas and functions as a homotypic calcium-independent cell adhesion molecule. RealBlue™ 705 from BD Biosciences is a novel fluorescent multimer that exhibits improvements upon PerCP-Cy5.5 and BB700 due to lower cross beam excitation efficiency with the 355nm UV, 405nm violet, 561nm yellow/green and 633/647nm red lasers, which results in less spectral spillover and resultant spreading error associated with the use of this fluorophore in a multicolor panel.
