The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily. This receptor contributes to the clonal expansion, survival, and development of T cells. It can also induce proliferation in peripheral monocytes, enhance T cell apoptosis induced by TCR/CD3 triggered activation, and regulate CD28 co-stimulation to promote Th1 cell responses. BD Horizon RealYellow 586 (RY586) is a bright, yellow emitting dye used in flow cytometry. This fluorophore is excited optimally by the 561 laser and is similar in its emission properties to PE, but interestingly, RY586 shows minimal cross-laser excitation with the 488 laser and can be used in spectral flow cytometry panels concurrently with PE (as stated by supplier).
