The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily. This receptor has been shown to activate NF-kappaB through its interaction with adaptor proteins TRAF2 and TRAF5. Knockout studies in mice suggested that this receptor promotes the expression of apoptosis inhibitors BCL2 and BCL2lL1/BCL2-XL, and thus suppresses apoptosis. BD Horizon RealYellow 586 (RY586) is a bright, yellow emitting dye used in flow cytometry. This fluorophore is excited optimally by the 561 laser and is similar in its emission properties to PE, but interestingly, RY586 shows minimal cross-laser excitation with the 488 laser and can be used in spectral flow cytometry panels concurrently with PE (as stated by supplier).
